Long DescriptionThere now follows a text description for accessibility. The image shows a map of catalogue entry AN-5, a conjectural Roman road. The map simply indicates the anomaly of eight placenames ending "Street" in a linear fashion running south east from Crossdale Street in Northrepps parish to Town Street in Hickling parish. The map also shows the modern coastline, major roads and towns and villages for orientation, together with other point evidence locations for Roman roads. The map shows that there is a gap of between two to five miles between the points on the course and other points indicative of Roman road locations to the west. The map also indicates two point locations close to the course to the east. The course runs from close the the modern highest point in Norfolk and if projected is in line with uncatalogued Caistor Roman town. In order from north west to south east, the named points on the course are: Stone Hill, Crossdale Street, Upper Street, Lower Street, Old Hall Street, Pollard Street, Ridlington Street, "Stone" placenames, Calthorpe Street and Town Street. The two named nearby points, to the east, are: Church Street near Crossdale Street, and Grub Street near Ridlington Street. |
