type catalogue.

introduction.

The type catalogue organises archaeological both sites and finds by their standardised type. The sites are listed in historical, then catalogue number order. If the grid reference you want is not yet listed, it is because I have not yet got to that one. If I know of no sites or finds in a grid reference, I will say this in the relevant Parish Catalogue entry.

This is going to be a time consuming process, so please be patient. I am beginning with my own home parish of North Walsham, and working outwards from there. Refer back at intervals, or check the "what's new" page for updates. Web: whatsnew.shtml

Please note! The blog associated with this website also doubles up as a "what's new" service. This has an RSS service. You can use this to automatically get updates. Web: http://ancientnorfolk.blog.co.uk

A full explanation of the standardised phrases used in the Parish Catalogue is included on the key to catalogues page. Web: keytocatalogues.shtml

Please note that I do not catalogue sites or finds already in:

  • The Norfolk Heritage Explorer; or
  • The Norwich Castle Museum catalogue.

The only exceptions are individual ones I have found listed in a general group entry.
